2.7 Million living with HIV - UNICEF
According to UNICEF, more than 110 children between the ages of 0-19 years died from AIDS in 2021 and the report also states that there’re 310,000 newly infected cases, which makes up 2.7million people living with HIV currently.
The report point out that new HIV infections among younger children within 0 - 14years reduced by 52% from 2010 to 2021 and infections among adolescents with the age range of 15 - 19years also reduced by 40% .
Meanwhile antiretroviral drugs among pregnant women living with HIV also increased from 46% to 81% within the span of 10years.
Adults living with HIV has been increasing for the past seven years, currently 20% higher than children . With a percentage of 71, just like it was high in 2012. This was published in New York by UNICEF on November 28, 2022.
