COURT SACK APC GOV. ASPIRANT
Federal High Court, yesterday in Abuja disqualified Rivers State Governorship candidacy of APC aspirant Tonye Cole. Recall, the Former Group Executive Director of Sahara Group, Mr. Tonye Cole won the Governorship Primaries 5months ago after a “tough” primary between Senator Magnus Abe and Tonye Cole, this later resulted in disbelief.
The Senator could not handle the surreal, he exited the party upon unsatisfactory outcome of the primary Election, Magus Abe joined forces with SDP and became the Governorship aspirant under the new party.
REASONS FOR THE COURT DECISION TO SACK TONYE COLE.
The court also cited Cole’s voluntary dual citizenship of Uk and allegiance to the country, how it’s against the Electoral Act, the Judgement also added that APC did not comply with the Electoral Act that brought Cole in as the Governorship candidate.
PDP filed a suit for the removal of Tonye Cole as Governorship aspirant of APC, notifying the court of Cole’s dual citizenship and faulted the carelessness of INEC Electoral delegation Act that brought him in as Aspirant, for not following due process that could have checked the irregularities.
Justice Emmanuel Obile of the Abuja High Court, read out in agreement to PDP filed suit; that the Party did not comply with the Electoral Act, this in turn had Tonye Cole disqualified As APC 2023 Rivers State Gov. candidate.
After the Judgement, while speaking to newsmen outside, Counsel to the opposition party, PDP, expressed happiness over the outcome of the court sitting and further assured that It means the All Progressives Congress has no slot in the up coming 2023 Governorship Election.
