EKITI ASSEMBLY IMPEACHED SPEAKER.
Mr Aribisogan cried that his impeachment and suspension are not legal and condemned the manner in which the impeachment was carried out and seek judicial intervention “to save democracy from total collapse.” He added, that it was a display of naked power and abuse of office for the lawmakers to have held a sitting under the assist of the police to carry out impeachment against him, saying such would not stand in the face of the law.
Other six lawmakers suspended alongside Mr Aribisogan were Tajudeen Akingbolu , Coke Olajide, Yemisi Ayokunle, Adeyemi Ajibade, Kemi Balogun and Tope Ogunleye.
Remember, Mr Aribisogan was elected the Speaker last Tuesday to replace Funminiyi Afuye who had died last month. It was gathered that the 17 lawmakers, yesterday, with the assist of heavily armed security personnels conveyed to the House of Assembly and Impeached Mr Aribisogan, replaced him with a female lawmaker, Mrs Olubunmi Adelugba.
