Court ordered INEC to continue voter registration.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday, ordered INEC to resume continuous voter registration (CVR) until 90 days before election. The originating summons filled before the court with suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1343/2022 against INEC, argued that the commission, INEC cannot stop the CVR contrary to the stipulated provisions of the constitution. The suit which is filed by Anjat Salmat urged the court to order INEC to resume the exercise.

Yesterday, INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu delivered a speech at the newly appointed Resident Electoral Commission (RECs) retreat, he emphasized on mandatory requirements for the February 25th general election.  He said only registered voters will be allowed to vote and the public should be aware that its compulsory for voters to have PVC and that the people thinking they can vote without PVC should correct the misconception.

Readiness for the February election next year, the INEC boss was seen assessing newly acquired machines that would be used during the Nigeriadecides2023 Presidential election.

INEC says it has deployed BVAS to states, the commission also insist it will ensure the use of BVAS and e-transmission of results in -Rev portal.
