“Edo Orisiagbon“

( Edo is the cradle of the world)

According to our forefathers; Edo is the youngest child of Osanubuwa(God) the creator of the world. Osanubuwa gave out possessions in wisdom, power and wealth as gifts which were shared among his children according to the hierarchy of their ages.

The eldest took the lead, he picked wisdom, without hesitation the second picked wealth ,the third picked power… Edo who was the last among the children, he was left with nothing to pick, but a snail shell lying on a sandy floor which was overlooked by his brothers. Osanubuwa told him to fill the snail shell with sand that it would turn to land when they get to the world.

The children of Osanubuwa left heaven and embarked on a journey to the world, while his brothers were hovering/cruising in the world, Edo empty the sand from the shell it became the king of the land.

After being exhausted from hovering around with no where to rest, his brothers begged for a portion of land to rest, (his brothers in edo represent “ebo” or “white men”).
