Ademola Adeleke takes oath of office

The newly elect, in the speech delivered at his inauguration in Osogbo, Ademola Adeleke said.


“ I am aware of the fact that my responsibility as the Governor and Cheif security officer of the state entails meeting the legitimate expectations of our people “


“Therefore, I promise that those expectations of the workers , traders, artisans, farmers, business owners, students, pensioners, traditional and religious leaders and indeed all residents of Osun  State will be met by the grace of God and the cooperation of everyone.


He added that he would make improvements and amend irregularities caused by previous administration,


“ Under my watch as the Governor of Osun State, I will boldly correct all past injustice, corrupt acts or polices by any previous administration, which are against the collective interest of our people.


“ Let me state here that from the education, health, mining sectors, agriculture, road infrastructure and supply of portable water, let it be known to all that it is no longer going to be business as usual…”


Ademola Adeleke also said he would correct injustices of past administration, claimed to have frozen all government accounts in banks and other financial establishments .

2.7 Million living with HIV - UNICEF

Image: Pixabay   According to UNICEF, more than 110 children between the ages of 0-19 years died from AIDS in 2021 and the report also states that there’re 310,000 newly infected cases, which makes up 2.7million people living with HIV currently.   The report point out that    new HIV infections among younger children within 0 - 14years reduced by 52% from 2010 to 2021 and infections among adolescents with the age range of 15 - 19years also reduced by 40% .  Meanwhile antiretroviral drugs among pregnant women living with HIV also increased from 46% to 81% within the span of 10years.  Adults living with HIV has been increasing for the past seven years, currently 20% higher than children . With a percentage of 71, just like it was high in 2012. This was published in New York by UNICEF on November 28, 2022.

ICPC arrests Dbanj for fraud.

ICPC arrests/detains dbanj for fraudulently siphoning N-Power funds, reports says he connived with some government officials, created ghost beneficiaries and paid the money into accounts which have been linked to him.  Founded by President Muhammadu Buhari, N-power is structured to address the issue of unemployment and also help increase social development . The scheme is part of National Social Investment Program, a social welfare scheme created by the Federal government of Nigeria to provide skills acquisition and jobs for youths and a monthly salary of N30,000.
